Travel Recap: 24hrs in Iceland

Alright everyone, I hope you love pictures because I'm finally starting my Summer Travel Recap series and I have loads to share.

As you may know, I recently returned from a 2 week trip to Iceland and Switzerland. My family an I started the trip with 24 hours in Iceland, spent the rest of the time in Switzerland and then another day in Iceland on our way home. So, here is the first 24 hours in Iceland!

arriving to a very cold and wet Iceland

we spent the whole day in Reykjavik, the capital, because we didn't have enough time to do any big nature excursions

the city was quite interesting, it never got dark during our whole stay

I ended up wearing shorts and a sweater while we were walking around and let me tell you, I was freezing at first, the temp was in the 40s and the sky was overcast the whole time- a really interesting change for Summer

I really loved the architecture- Iceland is extremely modern with very few actual historical buildings

also, there were like NO trees- the ground was mainly covered in moss, grass and volcanic rocks

this was taken on our way to the airport- the gloomy atmosphere was so different and I actually kind of liked it

Overall, the country was so neat and I only got to see a small part of it! If I ever go to Iceland again I would really want to do more trips to glaciers, volcanoes and hot springs. Reykjavik can pretty much be done in one or two days. I gotta say though, for someone who basically worships the sun, it's crazy how much I miss the chilly and grey landscape of Iceland.

Next stop, Switzerland. Stay tuned for my next travel recap!
