New Years Q + A: A Look at 2016

Okay, so I think everyone knows this year was pretty whack. A lot of crazy stuff went down and I hope that next year I can say 2017 was a much better year. For my last post of 2016, why not examine this year a little more in depth? I'm answering these questions from Tumblr so maybe next year I can look back at this post with totally different answers. Cheers! 
  1. What did you do in 2016 that you’d never done before? Explored a bunch of new cities.
  2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I made a lot of resolutions and kept up with some but not all. This year, no resolutions- I'm just gonna go with it.
  3. Did anyone close to you die? Yes.
  4. What countries did you visit? 'Merica and 'Merica only unfortunately.
  5. What would you like to have in 2017 that you lacked in 2016? Courage and no more procrastination.
  6. What dates from 2016 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? June 5th and June 11th. My two favorite days of all time. I had a blast with the people I love most and remember every second of it.
  7. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Getting grades I'm proud of this semester. Oh, and planking for 15 minutes.
  8. What was your biggest failure? Wasting a lot time dwelling on the future.
  9. Did you suffer illness or injury? Injury, a stress fracture in my right foot :( 
  10. What was the best thing you bought? That's a hard one. Probably my iPhone 7 Plus.
  11. Whose behavior merited celebration? Mine? Nah. Honestly, Michelle Obama and Ivanka Trump really caught my eye.
  12. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Donald. J. Trump.
  13. Where did most of your money go? Little knick knacks for my room and accessories. 
  14. What did you get really, really, really excited about? THE AMAs.
  15. What song will always remind you of 2016? Heathens.
  16. Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder?  (b) richer or poorer? Sappier (sadder and happier). Richer (by like 10 bucks).
  17. What do you wish you’d done more of? Running.
  18. What do you wish you’d done less of? Wishing away the present.
  19. How did you spend Christmas? At home with the fam and at my Grandpa's house with more fam.
  20. Did you fall in love in 2016? Yes. With a lot of new music.
  21. What was your favorite TV program? This year, Gossip Girl.
  22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Hate is a strong word.
  23. What was the best book you read? The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy.
  24. What was your greatest musical discovery? I shall reveal that very soon.
  25. What did you want and get? Wanted: A lot of fashion and design books, a designer makeup product, some new shades, a new phone (lots of trendy material stuff)
  26. What did you want and not get? A mirrorless camera and an A in algebra 1
  27. What was your favorite film of this year? The Thinning
  28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I wanted some New Balance kicks, a new backpack a Chanel style bag, some band merch when I turned 15.
  29. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Knowing that every day is a fresh start.
  30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2016? Ha, I've been wanting to say this sentence for awhile: Classic East Coast prep hits the cool streets of New York City.
  31. What kept you sane? Optimism, hope and Pinterest.
  32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Since I can only chose one person for this: Lady GaGa.
  33. Who did you miss? The person I become during summertime.
  34. Who was the best new person you met? Far too many to name but Syd, Ains and Liz, if you're reading this I'm looking at you kids. Gracie, don't worry I got to know you months before 2016.
  35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2016. Chill out, be who you are and give everything your all.
  36. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. This basically applies to everything in my whole entire life but "the sun will rise and we will try again."

Here is to a better, more successful and happier year to come. 2017, do bring it on. I've been waiting for you.
